Jared Medina is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Emory University. His research focuses on neuroplasticity, particularly how sensory maps are reorganized following brain injury and the mechanisms underlying tactile perceptual distortions.

One of his well-known research demonstrations on synchiria—a phenomenon in which tactile sensations are perceived without actual stimulation—has been recognized as one of the most popular demonstrations at the Vision Sciences Society annual meeting.

Through this line of work, Medina investigates how prior knowledge about the body shapes multisensory integration. His research suggests that perception is not merely the result of combining sensory inputs, but is constructed based on internal representations of the body.
